About Kerri — Founder of Kerried Away Couture

Hi! I'm Kerri. I am a 30-year-old fashion fanatic who is surrounded by an amazing group of friends and family. They comprise a number of professionally-driven women, a fabulous seamstress and teacher Patty, hardworking and devoted parents, three adorable younger siblings and an incredibly handsome husband, Lucas. It is with their collective support that I am embarking on an exciting, new venture — Kerried Away Couture.

I have always had an appreciation for quality, one-of-a-kind pieces and fashionable finds. As a young girl, I would create elaborate shows in Pat’s (paternal grandmother) closet — dressing up in her beautiful silk night gowns and gorgeous high heels. My mother often recounts various shopping trips to clothing stores where I would frequently disappear and return with “Jewels” in my tiny hand. Of course, these “Jewels” were actually beautiful buttons that I had pulled off of designer gowns or jackets! As I got older, (and kept my hands off the “Jewels” until I had purchased them), I began a wonderful three-generation shopping tradition with my mother and maternal grandmother, GaGa. The shopping ritual typically began with a piece of delicious pie or cake that GaGa had made, a stop at one of our favorite lunch spots, and then shopping and browsing galore! You can imagine how excited I would get on our outings, and can still clearly remember what GaGa would often say: “Now Kerri, let’s not get carried away!” And with these lovely memories, Kerried Away Couture was born.

Even in college, where I was pursuing a degree in Engineering and Organizational Development, I always found a way to incorporate fashion into my studies. In fact, one of my school projects entailed creating a business plan, which naturally, I centered on these interests. I always thought a custom-design process where each person could choose their own style and fabric would be a great way to make a truly unique ensemble. Most recently, I have begun to sew some of my own clothing and love every minute of it — from the design, to the fabric choice, to seeing the pieces come together as a true work of art. Kerried Away Couture offers this to all of you.
